10 First Dance Wedding Songs
Thursday 17th March 2016
Choosing your first dance is an integral part of planning a wedding and will be one of the most meaningful and intimate parts of your day. Whether it’s a fun up-tempo song, timeless classic or something current, it’s a chance to celebrate being together, but also to invite loved ones onto the dance floor and share your special moment.
Having played and performed many first dance songs over the years, here are a few of my favourites:
Thinking Out Loud – Ed Sheeran
It’s a popular choice – You can’t help but love those sentimental lyrics.
Let’s Stay Together – Al Green
Soulful, romantic and perfect for a smooch.
Love Is in The Air – John Paul Young
An upbeat 80’s classic and great fun to get people joining in.
The Way You Look Tonight – Frank Sinatra
It’s an uplifting, timeless classic with beautiful lyrics from Mr Sinatra.
I’m Yours – Jason Mraz
A simple, acoustic pop song that’s meaningful but not too mushy.
So Amazing – Luther Vandross
It’s sensual, smooth and very passionate. -” I’d follow you to the moon and the sky above.”
Moon River – Andy Williams
This reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Perfect for slow dancing.
All I Have to Do Is Dream – The Everly Brothers
A sweet, touching song and one of my fave’s as it was my sister’s first dance.
Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now – Starship
Who doesn’t love an 80’s power ballad…This one’s definitely a sing-a-long.
Let’s Dance – David Bowie
Can really set the tone of the evening and get people in the mood for a boogie.
