How much does it cost to hire you?
My evening DJ package is £650 (+ travel if your venue is more than 30 miles from my London base). I can also add a vocal set, as well as live sax and percussion options for an additional fee. Please complete my enquiry form for quote for your event.
Do you offer a written contract?
Yes, once you have confirmed that you would like to book Tailored Entertainment will send a booking contract to you - we send this on EchoSign so you will receive a link to view and sign the contract online.
Do you require a deposit? When is it due?
Yes, we ask for a deposit to secure your booking - for my standard evening DJ package this is £120.
When is the remaining balance due?
The balance is payable as bank transfer in advance of the event or cash on the day - paid to me on arrival.
Which areas do you cover?
I am based in London, but travel all over the UK and abroad. Additional costs may be incurred for long distances and over night accommodation.
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes, I’m a member of the Musicians Union and have PLI to the value of £10 million.
What type of equipment do you use?
FBT white column speakers. They are extremely high quality, providing fantastic evenly distributed sound for around 200 guests. They are very discreet, attractive and elegant.
I use a Pioneer DJ controller with Serato software.
What kind of lighting do you use?
Lighting is very simple and classy. I use 2 white moving heads, 4 up-lighters and 2 LED disco balls. All can be set to the colour and speed combinations of your choice.
How long does it take to set up the equipment?
Approximately 1 hour for full set-up and sound check, this can be longer if I’m performing a vocal set. It’s best to allow 90 minutes.
How much space do you need? And what else do you require on site at the venue?
Approximately 2m x 4m is ideal. I also require 2 x 13 amp sockets in the stage/performance area. Other than that, it’s always appreciated if I can have a room to change in and a rider of a meal and soft drinks - although this is not a deal breaker and as long as I know in advance, I can bring food/drink with me.
Do you have back-up equipment if something should fail?
I always carry spare cables and a back-up laptop. All of my equipment is PAT tested.
What happens if you can’t make it on the day?
Tailored Entertainment will organise replacement entertainment in the case of accident or illness although this has never happened to me in the 10 years I’ve been performing.
How long have you been you been the business?
I’ve been working as a professional singer for over 10 years, with hundreds of weddings and corporate parties under my belt. I’ve been spinning the decks for 2 years and have played at high profile venues including Claridges, The Connaught Rooms and Twickenham Stadium. Corporate event clients include Heineken, Virgin Holidays and various awards nights.
What type of music do you play?
I play a huge variety of tunes from 50’s, 60’s, disco and motown right through to current Top 40 chart hits. For corporate parties I will often play a combination of party hits, soulful house and chill out lounge style music. I am very adaptable, and will always read the crowd to ensure the right music is played. My personal favourite is soul and funk.
How do you keep your music library up to date?
I listen to the radio…a lot! I constantly update my music collection and am also a subscriber to a DJ record pool where I can download current music including remixes and mash-ups.
Do you take requests on the night?
Absolutely, I will always do my best to fit in a request. If it is a song I don’t have on my system I am happy to download it if here is a Wi-Fi connection at the venue.
Can we send a list of song requests?
Yes, this is very helpful for me to get an idea of the music you love, I will then build the set list around your favourite style. It’s also good for you to send a ‘do not play’ list as well. I prefer to have this list at least 2 weeks in advance.
Can we meet with you to discuss our musical requirements?
Yes, I live in South London and am very willing to meet somewhere nearby if possible. However, Tailored Entertainment will usually manage all music requirements and requests as part of their booking management process.
Do you make announcements on the mic?
I tend to keep talking on the mic to a minimum, but am very happy to make announcements including first dance, cake cutting, bride and groom exit etc.
I also have a radio mic which may be used by a designated ‘emcee’ or ‘toastmaster’.
What do you do to get the crowd going?
No two parties are ever the same, some crowds take a little while to warm up, some don’t leave the dance floor all night. My knowledge and experience means I know which tunes will get everyone up on the floor, and particularly when to play them. Have a look at my blog – http://www.djgems.com/blog/10-ways-to-keep-your-dance-floor-full
Do you take any breaks during the evening?
I don’t take any breaks during the DJ set, I’ll be too busy mixing tunes. I might need to nip off for a toilet break though!
Can we come and see you play?
As the majority of my bookings are private events and weddings, this isn't usually possible. Keep an eye out on my Twitter feed for any upcoming public appearances - @DJGems_.
